With a degree in Business Economics from the Bocconi University of Milan, Gambardella is an expert in the telecommunications and digital industry sector and has built up consolidated working relationships with stakeholders in all strategic areas, including economics, finance, hi-tech industry and the international media.
Between 1996 and 1999, he was head of relations with institutions and authorities at Olivetti. After joining Telecom Italia, he oversaw relations with the regulatory authorities for the Communications department, before heading up the group’s Brussels office, with responsibility for relations with institutional and European institutions.
He was the vice-president of Telecom Italia for relations with institutions and international organisations and – between 2011 and 2014 – was the the chairman of the executive board of the European Telecommunications Network Operators’ Association (ETNO).
Gambardella regularly organises C-Level summits, which bring together the leading players in Europe’s digital industry, European commissioners, representatives of the governments of Member States and presidents of the telecommunications regulation authorities. He has also been the vice-president of the Information, IT and Communication Committee (ICCP) at BIAC, the association which represents the industry at the OECD.
