Infratel Area: Ultra Broadband for over 3 thousand cities in six Regions.
After Open Fiber was awarded the first Infratel tender for the realisation of an Ultra Broadband infrastructure in the white areas of the country (so-called “market failure” areas), a 20-year concession agreement was signed for the planning, building and managing of the access network for around 3,000 cities in the following Regions: Abruzzo, Molise, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Tuscany and Veneto.

Open Fiber obtained the award for all five lots planned. The tender required the coverage of 4.6 million of building units, of which at least 1.4 million should have a guaranteed connection over 100 megabit/s (MBPS) in download and 50 megabit/s in upload (MBPS).
Open Fiber has significantly improved the minimum requirements and has committed to connecting over 4.2 million building units to the maximum speed with an FTTH technology capable of guaranteeing high speed to up to1Gigabit/s (GBPS), while the remaining part of the optional building units will be covered with over 30 Mbps technology.
