1 Giga Italy Plan work progress
1 Giga Italy Plan: details on the progress of work for the spread of FTTH fiber optics in the country’s inland areas.
Within the scope of the 1 Giga Italy Plan, the government has issued calls for tenders to provide public support for the creation of an ultra-fast network. Open Fiber was awarded 8 of the lots, involving 3,881 municipalities in 9 regions.
As of October 31, 31,175 km of infrastructure have been built. The kilometers of network represent the infrastructure development (construction, excavation, reuse, cable laying, etc.) necessary for the network’s creation.
1.36 million street numbers have been connected (FTTH+FWA), which is 64.6% of the total street numbers planned under the 1 Giga Italy Plan tender.
Approximately 1.16 million property units (FTTH + FWA) have been made available for sale, corresponding to 1,605 saleable municipalities. These are property units that are included in the sales databases reserved for Open Fiber’s Partner Operators, who can then activate services upon request from end-users.
