Access Services

P2P and Point-to-Multipoint access services

Open Fiber’s fibre optic access solutions are designed to provide ultra-fast, secure and efficient internet connectivity for business customers. State-of-the-art technologies support the transport of Ethernet and Internet traffic at a professional level, catering to all browsing needs.

Active services

Open Fiber offers solutions based on scalable and reliable active services to ensure high performance, operational continuity and the highest quality in internet browsing. Below are the main options available for business customers and Operators are: BEA, BIA and GBA, listed below.

BEA Service

The BEA (Business Ethernet Access) service enables the collection and delivery of Layer 2 (L2) Ethernet traffic between the Customer’s and Operator’s premises, ensuring high reliability and quality standards. The service consists of two main components:

End Customer Access Service. It includes the necessary infrastructure for connecting the customer site, detailed as follows:

  • TR with UNI interface available in optical or electrical version
  • Dedicated P2P fibre optic connection
  • Traffic transport over Open Fiber’s access network to the designated delivery point.

Delivery to the Operator. Traffic is delivered to the Operator through interfaces available in two configurations: Shared or Dedicated.

BIA Service

The BIA (Business Internet Access) provides the customer with direct and professional Internet access via a dedicated point-to-point fibre optic connection. If offers symmetrical bandwidth, meaning equal download and upload capacities, which can reach up to 10 Gbps.

The service also includes the availability of an Operator to ensure a static public IP address or, upon request, an IP subnet for more complex connectivity needs.

GBA Service

The GBA (GPON Business Access) service provides Layer 2 connectivity over a shared fibre network, using a FTTH point-to-multipoint architecture based on PON (Passive Optical Network) access technology.

This solution is available at all addresses where Open Fiber provides active services. For Near-Net locations, a Feasibility Study is planned to check the availability.

The traffic is transported to Open Fiber’s collection PoP, where the delivery kit selected by the OLO is located. No physical colocation inside the PoP is required.

Open Internet

The turnkey solution that allows Operators to offer an internet access service using the Open Fiber network, without any investment in their own infrastructure.

Passive services

Open Fiber’s passive services offer direct access to the ultra-fast fibre optic infrastructure through dark fibre. This is an ideal proposal for those seeking maximum flexibility, performance, and a high degree of service customisation.

Dark Fibre Service

Open Fiber provides a dark fibre connection (Dark Fibre) between two sites designated as A-end and B-end, indicated by the Operator. This service includes the supply and maintenance of the infrastructure.

If the Operator requires a single fibre instead of a pair, they can make an explicit request.

The connection includes the creation of vertical cabling and the horizontal entry section to the building, made with optical cable terminated on an optical patch installed inside the building.
