1 Giga Italy Plan: details on the progress of work for the spread of FTTH fiber optics in the country’s inland areas.
Within the scope of the 1 Giga Italy Plan, the government has issued calls for tenders to provide public support for the creation of an ultra-fast network. Open Fiber was awarded 8 of the lots, involving 3,881 municipalities in 9 regions.
As of 30 April 2026:
- 37,985 km of infrastructure have been built. The kilometers of network represent the infrastructure development (construction, excavation, reuse, cable laying, etc.) necessary for the network’s creation.
- 1.239 million street number have been connected via FTTH.
- Works have been completed in 1,297 FTTH municipalities (with Network Plant Completion Certificates – CUIR).
- 2.017 million connected property units via FTTH technology.
