ESG rating

cdp (1)

CDP – (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project)

CDP is an international non-profit organization that provides a system to measure, understand, and improve the environmental impact of investors, companies, and local authorities. In 2024, Open Fiber subscribed the CDP Climate Change questionnaire for the first time, achieving a “B” rating, the highest level within the Management category.

ecovadis (1)

EcoVadis

In 2024, Open Fiber joined EcoVadis for the first time, the ESG vendor rating platform that has developed an assessment to evaluate performance in four areas: environment, ethics, labour practices and human rights, and sustainable procurement. Open Fiber received the Platinum Medal, ranking in the top 1% of the best companies in the evaluation areas.

openes (1)

Open-es

At the end of 2023, Open Fiber joined Open-es as a Value Chain Leader Partner with the goal of promoting the sustainability of its supply chain and understanding how deeply the values of its business are integrated within it. Open Fiber measured its performance by obtaining a sustainability score of 89/100, also validated by the certification body RINA.

gresb (1)

GRESB

GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) is an independent organization that has developed an international assessment to evaluate ESG performance and management processes. In 2024, second year of rating adherence, Open Fiber achieved a score of 91/100 – a score higher than both its peer group and the total number of participants.

ESG Certifications

ESG Certification – In 2023, Open Fiber was the first company in Italy to obtain the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) certification. The ESG Certification is a non-accredited standard developed by SGS – the world’s leading provider of inspection, verification, testing and certification services – to assess the management of environmental, social and governance aspects within an organisation. The ESG certificate is issued to an organisation that is able to meet the criteria summarising the requirements of ESG best practices and the most widely used sustainability standards.

This important recognition came after the policies and practices implemented by Open Fiber were carefully analysed and, in addition to confirming its commitment to sustainability in recent years, it has enabled the company to develop consolidated and verifiable internal processes with a view to continue along the path of improvement in order to achieve its ESG objectives and to improve performance progressively.

ISO 14064-1 CertificationThe ISO 14064-1 standard sets out the principles and requirements for designing and reporting organisational-level GHG (greenhouse gas) inventories by defining a specific policy for reducing emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.

To measure its GHG inventory, Open Fiber identified a baseline year (2022) against which to formulate its emissions reduction targets. The inventory comprehends all three scopes of the company’s emissions: specifically, direct emissions related to the vehicle fleet and heating systems, indirect emissions related to electricity consumption, and indirect emissions related to the value chain. The GHG emissions inventory is certified annually by an independent third party in accordance with ISO 14064-1.
