Open Fiber and the university

Find your bearings, learn and assess. With this triple goal we have organised a rich calendar of events in Italian schools and universities.

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” – Seneca

Our mission has always been to provide everyone, regardless of their geographical location, with access to the most advanced digital services, so that they can take advantage of the many opportunities of an increasingly interconnected world. Behind our successes and projects is our team, consisting of people who have embraced our vision and believe in what we are doing on a daily basis. This is why we are constantly looking for young people who want to share this goal with us and become part of our team. We are present throughout Italy, actively participating in numerous career days at top Italian universities.

We want to help build an online community of digital citizens who can travel at the speed of 1 GigabitGigabit The Gigabit is the unit of measurement that represents 1 billion bits and is abbreviated as Gbit or Gb. This unit of measurement is often used, together with the megabit and the kilobit, in relation to time (in seconds) for calculating the transmission speed of digital signals, mainly used to calculate the speed of a data download. The Gbit/s is currently a widely used unit of measurement to refer to data transmission speed in computer networks. per second with our FTTHFTTH “Fiber to the Home” is the technology that connects POPs, located in exchanges, to end users’ property units with fiber optics. networkNetwork In computer language, the term network defines a set of hardware and software devices which, when linked together, enable the exchange and sharing of resources, data or information. In a computer network, the devices that generate, route and terminate data are called network nodes., which is why we launched You Digital, a project created to spread digital awareness among InternetInternet The word comes from the fusion of the English terms international and net, i.e. international network. Project

Digital is increasingly playing a major role in our lives. The European Union has recognised digital skills as key skills. However, in order to recognise digital citizenship, it is essential to develop a model to identify the skills needed to become part of it. This is why we have launched You Digital. Inspired by the EU ‘DigComp’ model, You Digital is an online test that gives you an insight into your digital profile. The DigComp model is based on identifying digital skills in five areas of competence. It was on the basis of these parameters that we developed our project. In addition to learning about their digital profile, candidates and all those who are willing to get involved will also be able to increase their knowledge through e-learningE-Learning Contraction of Electronic Learning, also known as online learning or distance learning, i.e. the use of multimedia technologies and the Internet to improve learning quality by facilitating access to resources and services, as well as remote exchanges and collaboration. sessions

Experience Open Fiber from day one!

New talents joining the Open Fiber team? The watchword is Onboarding: our welcome programme to facilitate the integration of new hires into our company. A day packed with events and meetings, from a tour of the headquarters to the presentation of our initiatives. Among the different experiences, the most interesting is certainly the on-field experience, an opportunity for new colleagues to visit a construction site first-hand. An experience that helps them to fully understand the whole process of cabling Italy.

Future within reach

Work-based learning, made compulsory since 2015 with the reform of the ‘La Buona Scuola’ law, is a learning model that allows young people between the ages of 15 and 18 to experience the world of work.

A new way of training that combines school education with work experience in order to guide young people on their vocational path and help them make an informed choice of career. This cultural change brings the education system into ever closer contact with the labour market. Open Fiber very enthusiastically supports work-based learning initiatives, scheduling a calendar packed with classroom training courses with its professionals and giving students the opportunity to participate in a Job Shadowing experience at our sites. Launched in 2017, to date the initiative has involved more than 100 students in four different cities: Milan, Rome, Naples and Catania. An innovative way to introduce the world of work to young people and to share Open Fiber values with them.
