With the Open eGames, Open Fiber is officially entering the eSports world

eSports are guided by the principle of inclusiveness, an aspect that they strongly share with Open Fiber’s Vision. This is why we decided to offer users unprecedented, interactive, innovative and immersive gaming experiences through collaboration with Fibra City in the “Open eGames” initiative.
We relive the matches – streamed live on Twitch – that brought this edition’s two best players to compete in the finals at the prestigious arena of Lucca Comics.
Kick Off in Milan with a commentary by the famous Pierluigi Pardo
The Open eGames began at 8 p.m. on 26 September at Via Giacomo Watt 32, in a very special location in the heart of Milan. An online FIFA tournament featured two pro players, both well known in the Italian gaming scene, competing against each other for goals: Antonio “Tony Tubo” Ercolano and Nello “Hollywood285” Nigro. Commentary was provided by a special guest, one of the most popular and widely followed voices in the sports world: Pierluigi Pardo. At the end of the challenge, four lucky people, chosen by Pardo and Hollywood285, had a chance to challenge the two great pro players for a truly unique experience.

Futchallenges at Lucca Comics
The outstanding judges of the second round of the ‘Open eGames’ were the great champions TonyTubo and Hollywood285.
Once again, the event was broadcast live on Twitch, one of today’s most popular platforms in the gaming world, which, through ‘unfiltered’ live streams created by streamers, offers the ability to experience the competition, appreciating every detail.
The challenges were held on four consecutive Thursdays: 3 October, 10 October, 17 October and 24 October. Competing for the final on 1 November were Cristian from Zelo Buon Persico and Giovanni from Torre del Greco, the winners of these Futchallenges.
Open eGames: the final at Lucca Comics
Four weeks packed with matches on the virtual FIFA pitch, where numerous online gaming and eSports fans tried to earn their place in the Open Fiber hall of fame. On 1 November, during Lucca Comics, the most important gaming and comics fair in Italy and Europe, the two finalists, Giovanni from Torre del Greco and Cristian from Zelo Buon Persico, faced each other in a 2 vs 2 FIFA game together with two special partners: Antonio “Tony Tubo” Ercolano and Nello “Hollywood285” Nigro. This gran finale featured an outstanding commentator, who also inaugurated the initiative in Milan: Pierluigi Pardo. A goal-filled challenge, in which Giovanni from Torre del Greco, paired with Hollywood285, emerged victorious.
However, as Pierre de Coubertin used to say: “The most important thing is not winning, but taking part” and indeed the real victory was experiencing the atmosphere of these Open eGames and all the positive values that sport, including eSports, can convey.
